Congratulations to the Bloordale Bombers Rookieball Select Team 1 for winning the Annual Lloyd McConnie Rookieball Tournament. The Bloordale Mosquito Select Team did our league proud in their first tournament of the season winning two of their three round-robin games. Our pitchers were in fine form and the Bloordale bats were on fire during the tournament allowing us to score 37 runs in three games. By now, you may or may not be aware the City of Toronto Council has voted to charge all outdoor playing field permit holders an hourly user fee for 2012. This was done during the recent Toronto budget process as council looked for ways to increase non-tax revenues. Baseball leagues were formally notified of this decision late last week. Bloordale Baseball has frozen its fees for 2012 Season while investing in new House League equipment, playing field improvements,  marketing initiatives, and increased professional training clinics  for players, coaches and umpires. Bloordale’s executive approved the nearly $80,000 operating budget last night, setting the stage for the 2012 season of play.
